Freedom/Elle

As my school year ended yesterday for the rest of summer, I have plenty of time now for taking photos, spending days on end at the beach, wandering the streets, scouting out little cafes, burning my feet on the bitumen and more regular blogging.

In the past couple of months I have fallen in love with Elle Fanning. At the mere age of 15 she has already acted in over 20 movies yet she's just completed her first year of high school. Her cover and spread in issue one of Miss Vogue Australia is pure bliss and she's dressed in creations from the likes of Givenchy, Burberry, Miu Miu, Valentino, Saint Laurent, Mary Katrantzou and Dior. If you want to see more of her face I would recommend Somewhere or Ginger and Rosa.

My copy of Alexa Chung's new book, "It", recently arrived on my doorstep and I have found myself burrowing into it in any of my few spare moments. The book reminds me why she is one of my idols - her style, life, humour and general sense of coolness makes her the It girl that she is today. From her own doodles, to stories of her pre-teen life, to personal photo booth pictures, to the woven pastel pink cover, I am in awe of this book and insanely jealous of her (I book mark the pages with a scratchie that I won $2 on... Maybe it will bring me enough luck to also live a life like queen Alexa).

Kinda obsessed with this little movie by Hedi Slimane for Saint Laurent. It features the label's new line of ballet flats, and the movie mashes together elegance with raw grunge to make a most aesthetically pleasing 1:27 minutes. Makes me want to wear leather pants, a plaid shirt and some YSL ballet flats and dance around a New York City loft space...

My current obsession: strappy backed/skin showing dresses.
I love the clean, fresh and sleek look of these dresses. I think the sexiness of the bare back works perfectly alongside the fragile concept of the thin straps. Wishing I could have all of these...
